Conklins "Big Red Barn Dinner Theater"

This dinner theater is located in Goodfield Illinois. We went to it on the recommendation of a friend. I knew the minute we pulled onto the parking lot we would not like it and I was right. The parking lot was full of potholes, but this I could live with. But the outside of the barn where the theater is located had badly peeling paint, and on the roof was some kind of tin instead of shingles. Which means to me that the appearance isn't very important to them. That in its self wasn't too bad again I could have lived with that. What I cant live with is the way the food situation is. Our table was situated so that the serving line was right behind me and people were constantly bumping my chair with every bite I took. Then there was the episode of a man having his butt practically in my glass I had to move it several times and finally I plain out got mad and asked him to please get his tush off my table. The show tho was excellent. But that is all I can say about this theater that was good. The service was bad. I had to ask 4 times for the waitress to please bring us a pitcher of tea as my husband and I drank a lot. All they give you are these tiny glasses filled with ice so you get about 3 swallows in a glass. The restrooms were dirty and very little tissue in the restrooms. As you enter the ladies restroom there is a old broken down couch that looks like it belongs on a dump. needless to say I would not recommend the theater nor will we ever go back.

Cinderella At Bef and Boards-May 22 2011

Just came back from seeing Cinderella. It was a great show. Jeff Stockberger plays one of the wicked step-sisters. He is so funny. No matter what performance he is in, he makes the show. If you have never been to Beef and Boards and seen him act, you are in for a real treat. The performance was great. All the staff at Beef and Boards greet you with great respect and go out of their way to see to your comfort. Today I especially enjoyed the time there as we were celebrating my birthday May 26, my husbands birthday June 25 and our anniversary July 27 all rolled into one. I had an unexpected surprise. After we had ate and it was time to order dessert they brought out a cake for us. This was very nice. Food here is excellent. Upon arrival you are shown to your seat by a hostess. Then your waiter/waitress comes to your table for your drink order. You are then told when to proceed to the buffet according to when you arrived. You get in line and get an entree plate and a salad plate and go through the line. You must go down steps to get to the buffet and carry your plates back up the steps to your table. So if you are handicapped like me please be sure to take some one with you that can help you carry your plates. The staff at the buffet lines will help you carry them back for you if you don't have any one to help you.
