Myers Dinner Theater, Hillsboro Indiana

Hi folks . Well here's the review as I promised. Today is June 21st. Happy Fathers Day to all you fathers out there. We went to see the "Phantom" at the Myers Dinner Theater today. It was fantastic. Everything about it was fantastic. From the famous 9 toilets, to the 1950's soda shop,to the play, to the old country store. And of course the most important part the food was fantastic. Better food than at Beef and Boards in Indianapolis.

We stopped in at the old fashioned 1950's soda shop for a drink before the show. The decor is all about the 1950's era. You would really enjoy it. If you go to see this dinner show stop in and visit the soda shop. This is a must to see before the show. After the Dinner show on Sunday they also put on a Cabaret type show for you. The tickets to see this is only 7.00. Well worth the price.

The entrance to the theater is through the "Old Country Store Gift Shop." There you can browse for gifts to take home for a reminder of all the fun you had while visiting here and I guarantee you will have fun. The store is done up in the 1920's style inside and out. Inside are the famous 9 bathrooms which Donna (the owner) has decorated each one differently. My favorite one is the old out house style complete with the old corncobs. You will want to allow enough time to go see these before the show. The theater hold about 100 people. Doors open at 12 noon Indiana time.

Salad, drinks and hot rolls are brought around to the table. There is homemade dressing on the table (made by Donna) as well as fresh strawberry preserves for the hot rolls. The food is buffet style. The food is all home made by Donna and her husband. The food is out of this world. We had French stuffed pastry stuffed with chicken and 3 kinds of cheeses, green beans, mashed potatoes, Swiss steak, corn and various kinds of desserts. Tea and coffee were plentiful. No one would leave here hungry.

If you arrive early there is a wonderful lady who plays the piano for your entertainment. She is really good. You can even sip a cocktail or have a beer while waiting. Sit comfortable one of the couches and enjoy the decor of the many twinkling lights and old fashioned water wheel.

The theater is handicapped accessible as it is mostly all one one floor. There are 2 levels but only one step up to each level.

This theater is in a christian atmosphere. The owners are Christians. Grace is said before eating which I think is a nice touch. How many dinner theaters do this? Donna comes out to greet each and every one of her guests and sits down at the table and talks with you. We had a nice conversation with her while there.

After the show you can talk with the cast as you are leaving. I spoke to two of the cast before the show. Jason Newkirk who plays the part of Alan the opera manager in the show and Chelsea who plays the part of Florence in the show. Jason is a writer and writes for some of the shows in Branson. He is also the owner of the old fashioned soda shop. He is a excellent player and played his part very well.

Michael Moyer who played the Phantom is an extremely talented young player and played his part very well. Lacey Kriston played the part of Christine. Every one is this show showed great talent. Some of the players were new and some were veteran players. But all were great.

The entire town of Hillsboro is a cute quaint old fashioned town. The town is only about 3-4 blocks long. You could spend a day browsing these quaint old shops, visit the dinner theater and spend the night in the Victorian B&B just around the corner. Park your car walk the 4 blocks to visit these shops and go back to B&B for the night without ever having to drive once you arrive. What a wonderful time.
